Need an Owners manual 2023 Montauk

There is very little literature from my Dealer with regards to my specific Whaler, a 17, 2023 Montauk. Yes, there is one manual in 20 languages, but its about caution and safety concern. Specifications of the boat and info on systems. How large is the gas tank ?! Whats behind that screwed lid ?! There must be detailed Owner Manuals for say, Montauks, Dauntless and others !

Poor workmen ship

I purchased 2002 Boston whaler 29 Outrage, used always kept on lift with only 225 hours on boat and motors. For some reason Boston whaler never sealed the hatch between anchor and cabin. Every time it rained, water leaked into the cabin rotted hardwood floor, and wood connecting sink and bed. Now I have rotten wood on the deck of the bed and had to remove the flooring. Also, you installed a Kohler generator that you can't even get to the spark plugs, and any water rots the starter. What a mess. For a company with such a good name, I can't figure how this could happen. This was my second whaler and will be my last based on what I have seen in this boat.

User's recommendation: Dont purchase the 2002 29 outrage with wood floor, generator, water most likly the will be rotted out. Also check motor mount bolts mine rotted out cost lot of money to pull motors and replace.

Bought 202* *** Boston Waller Conquest

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Dec 23, 2022

Sold my smaller Grady for this 202* *** Conquest Waller and had nothing but problems, Ray marine Axciom 16 does not auto route like told and needs many up dates for depth. My old Garmin ran circles around it.

Ray Marine Radio wireless has trouble connecting. Sea keeper has oil leak and seems that Waller is unknowable on who repairs. Electrical issue with battery system has meant dead batteries several times and generator set up has not worked yet without stalling out and its been 6 months and Waller has yet to resolve.

Windshield leaks on both port and starboard on every wave spray. Very disappointed and unsatisfied with this boat that cost 600k down here in Texas.

Boston Whaler has no interest in selling boats

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Background: I am about to retire and I WILL BE BUYING a boat that I can use on the coast of Maine to fish and explore the islands. I am also a CASH BUYER! With that being said, I couldn't get anyone to contact me! I originally created my "dream boat" online and received a auto-generated email. Weeks later Daniel Thomas contacted me asking if I had head anything from Bowden Marine Service in Bar Harbor Maine. I responded immediately and said that I hadn't. It's now four months later and I haven't heard anything from anyone. If their customer service is this bad with a cash-ready buyer I can only imagine what their customer service would be like once I was a boat owner. Time to move on to Parker Boats!! Perhaps they have an interest in selling boats.

201* 315 Conquest constant generator problems

Bought a 2018 Boston Whaler 315 conquest and took delivery 2019. Generator salt water flow switch constantly salts up rendering generator non functional. Service manager at Whaler said it should be cleaned out regularly. I told him that it is impossible to access. He insisted that he can do it. It is located behind generator up against rear wall of boat. My local specialist said that they have only one tech that can do it and he had to build a special tool. Not only that but fire extinguishing system needs to be dismantled to access it. Pitch of boat on plane causes salt to gather in inaccessible switch. Clogged up just 2 weeks after being cleaned out. I have to pay generator specialist to reposition the swich to front of the unit so I can access it or pay generator company more than $500 per month to come clean it out. Boston Whaler refuses to pay or remedy this. ai generator repaip spee

Replacing Boston Whaler step fender on trailer

I have a 2015 Montauk 15 footer with a BW trailer. I need to replace the gray plastic step fender due to a tire blowout. The fender measures 8 3/4 inches wide by 37 inches long and covers an ST 175/80 tire with a 14 inch rim. What size fender would you suggest? Most of the ones I've looked at are bigger than the one I am replacing. Do you recommend a particular manufacturer?

Fuel Gauge

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought brand new 2018 Boston Whaler 32 Vantage from Marine Max in Pompano Fla. From day 1 the fuel gauge did not work properly. I would run the boat for 5 hours (Twin Merc 350's) and return with the gauge reading more fuel than I left with. Most times the gauge would not move for 15-20 hours of run time. BW incredibly rude customer service treated me like I was just a complainer. Dealer tried but could not fix the problem. After 6 times in shop, the boat was returned to BW factory. BW changed the fuel sensor (Took 4 months) and returned with the same problem. Then BW hands me a clip board with fuel calculations and says this is the best we can do. "Just check your hours against the clip board calculations." After i objected they told me that at least they didn't charge me storage while at the factory! Marine Max dealer was visibly embarrassed but could do nothing. BW refused to buy the boat back saying that their fix was good enough. $380,000 boat I should calculate my fuel usage with a clock, engine RPM and their chart on a clipboard! BW pushes their dealers and customers around. Didn't used to be that way. This was my third and LAST BW. Had to sell it at a huge loss. I don't blame the dealer because i believe that they have to kiss *** to BW or loss them.

Thank you for the review, Do you know why MarineMax did not stand behind it like they advertise to do??? Did it ever get fixed or was it put on the market as-is? I see a 201* 320 Vantage for sale in Pompano now, 2/15/2020 James

Poor customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Brought 2017 conquest 315 love boat but every time take boat out has issues nothing major pumps stop working generator not working battery issues called whaler. Took to whaler dealer. They advise wrong batteries well boat only 3 months old they said dealer I brought it from put wrong batteries in they charged me 2500.00 to fix called Boston whaler and they said they don’t stand behind their dealers and I would have to work it out with them. And by the way they only had the boat for a month and a half. I explain to whaler and dealer that crazy that after spending 358,000 for a boat this is the kind of service I get. Answer was that I didn’t buy it from the servicing dealer. Well made a mistake and brought boat from a dealer in New York and I live in Maryland. Well have several attempts to resolve issue on boat with dealer still being charged well I give up. Trading boat in arrive sucks it a shame because very comfort boat but if they don’t have nobody to fix them. What a shame

BW - The Best !

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've owned a Whaler since 1977 when I was 22 years old, the first Whaler was a 17' Montauk with a 90 hp Evinrude, I've put literally thousands of hours on this boat, in both fresh waster and saltwater. To this day the boat is perfect, in both looks and condition ( I take excellent care of my assets), I passed this boat on to my best friend that spend thousands of hours on board fishing. The boat is running to this day, I repowered with a new 90 Evinrude in 2013. My next Whaler is a 2004 21' Outrage, I've loved this boat from day one, can't say enough good about this ride, and still own it to this day. This Whaler is still my dream boat and its outfitted to the 10's for fishing. Anybody that has spent a day with me on this boat fishing wants one. I've had this boat in dangerous water (but didn't know it) always brings me home safely. I love boats, I've owned big (65' Ocean) small and medium sizes, and I will take my Outrage over all of them. Can't say enough good about Whalers. I know there are a lot of good quality boats available, I've been on many, but for me it will always be Boston Whaler otherwise, I will fish from shore (where its safe). Michael S.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RUNAROUND

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I PURCHASED A USED 2016 BOSTON WHALER MONTAUK 17 IN JANUARY 2017. I DID NOT REGISTER BOAT WITHIN 30 DAYS BUT HAVE A HORRIBLE PROBLEM WITH A VERY BADLY WARPING DECK. I WANT TO TRADE THE BOAT FOR SOMETHING LARGER BUT GOING TO 2 OTHER BOAT DEALERS NO ONE WOULD TAKE IT. BOTH SAID THIS IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE A MAJOR FACTORY FIX AND DID NOT WANT THE HASSEL. UNDERSTANDABLE. BOUGHT BOAT IN FLORIDA AND USE IT IN FLORIDA AND PENNSYLVANIA. CONTACTED DEALER IN FLORIDA FOR HELP AND THEY TRIED TO HELP. (I SENT THEM VIDEOS THAT THEY FOREWARED TO BW THAT CLEARLY SHOW THE BUCKLED AREA.) I REGISTERED THE BOAT WITH THEIR HELP AND THEN TRIED TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE AT AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE AUTHORIZED DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DO THAT REPAIR. CALLED FL DEALER AND WAITED FOR HELP. NOTHING. CALLED FL DEALER AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME BOSTON WHALER SAID THEY WERE TALKING WITH ME AND HAD IT RESOLVED. THEY WANT ME TO TAKE IT TO DELEWARE 500 MILES AWAY! I HAD NEVER BEEN CONTACTED BY BW. THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO CONTACT BW MYSELF. I CALLED BW AND TALKED TO THE MOST UNHELPFUL AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP EVER. HE SAID MY BOAT WAS NOT REGISTERED AND WOULD NOT TALK TO ME. I TOLD HIM THAT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS REGISTERED AND THAT THE DEALER HAD HELPED ME DO IT. BW REP SAID NOT. HE SAID IT WILL NEED REGISTERED AGAIN AND IT IS NOT REGISTERED UNTILL I GET AN EMAIL THAT SAID IT WAS REGISTERED. THAT CAN TAKE UP TO A WEEK TO 10 DAYS AND I WOULD JUST HAVE TO WAIT. ON TOP OF THAT THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT BW WANTS TO DRILL HOLES AND PUT WEIGHTS ON THE FLOOR AND GLUE IT BACK DOWN. THAT JUST DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A GOOD FIX TO ME. THE FLOOR HAS BIG RIPPLES ON ONE SIDE AND NOW THE OTHER SIDE IS JUST STARTING TO BULGE. I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A HIGH QUALITY BOAT FROM A RELIABLE COMPANY. I PAID A HIGH QUALITY PRICE BUT GOT A REALLY POOR BOAT. BUT THE WORST PART HAS BEEN THE SERVICE.
